- In north Korea, Owning a holy Bible is a very serious crime, because the Bible to the north Korean is seen as the beliefs and way of life of the Western world. If a north Korean is caught with a Bible, it can attracts a penalty of several years imprisonment or execution. The only God allowed to be worship in North Korea is the family of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and they also make the citizens to believe that the Family of the North Korean leader has the strongest God in the world.
2. In north Korea, the government controls the television channels the citizens watch. You are not permitted to watch foreign television channels, if you do so, you will surely end up in jail. You are permitted to watch only North Korean television channels which are 100% controlled by the government.
3. Voting is a must. Compare to some countries where citizens can choose either to vote or not, in north Korea YOU MUST VOTE. There have been a time when an opponent was arranged to contest against the incumbent leader Kim Jong-un in a presidential election. elections in North Korea are totally under the control of Kim Jong-un’s Family.
4. You cannot make international phone call. It’s a very serious crime for you to make international phone call in north Korea, the government monitors phone calls to detect any international phone call. There have been executions for making international phone calls. in 2007, a man was shot dead in a stadium for calling a Japan number.
5. You Must Get Government Approval Before You Own a Car. In north Korea, only government officials and top selected citizens are allowed to own a car. if you wish to own a car in north Korea, there are certain criteria you must attain before the government gives you approval to buy a car.
6. You Must Get Government Approval To Live In The Capital City. To live in north Korea capital city Pyongyang, you must meet certain criteria which mainly includes Loyalty to the government and wealth. You can’t just move into the capital city at your will, the government must approve your stay in the capital city.
7. There Are Certain Hairstyles You Cannot Make. There are 18 approved hairstyles that a citizen can make including male and female. No one is permitted to have the hairstyle of the north Korean leader.
8. Your Family is being Punished For Your Crimes. If you commit a crime and run away, all your family members including your grand parent will be punished for your crime.
9. Tourist Are Not Given Freedom. Tourist are not allowed to move around in north Korea without a tour guide and you are not allowed to take pictures or videos without the approval of your tour guide.
